Preparation is the key to a good finish whether painting or paper hanging often taking up a large proportion of the time but if the finish is to last we consider this essential.
When painting we will consider the following?
- fill any minor defects
- sand the walls/woodwork with the correct grades of preparation paper/wet and dry paper
- wash down the areas with sugarsoap/white spirit to de-grease the surface
- apply the correct undercoat and the correct number of finish coats
- use the correct paint for the area it is to be applied to
- consider whether it is a high foot traffic area, like a hallway or staircase and use appropriate products
- consider if the area will suffer from condensation or high temperatures
We use quality paint and materials and are happy to use waterbase products which provide a low level of odour and are better for the enviroment. Another benefit of waterbase products is the quicker drying times allowing time saving costings to be made.
When paperhanging again preparation is key. Does it require applying a lining paper? Will the walls need to be glue sized?. The correct paste for the paper?
