Fail to prepare , prepare to fail. Preparation is the key to a good finish whether painting or paper hanging.
When painting will your decorator do the following? - fill any minor defects
- sand the walls/woodwork with the corect grades of sanding paper/wet and dry paper
- wash down the areas with sugarsoap to de-grease the surface
- apply the correct undercoat and the correct number of finish coats
- use the correct paint for the area it is to be applied to
- consider whether it is a high foot traffic area, like a hallway or staircase and use appropriate products
- consider if the area will suffer from condensation or high temperatures
All of the above are standard practice for SplashofColours When paperhanging again preparation is key. Does it require applying a lining paper? I have included a paragraph from a very respected paperhanger B Archibald" National Guild of paperhangers" " Simply put, when wallpaper and liner are used together, they become one piece of paper, similar to a sheet of plywood. Considering manufacturers' recommendations, the look a liner gives, and the problems it solves, it is easy to see why many experienced installers and manufacturers say, "if you want the best wallpaper installation possible, you want a liner." Qualified with a focus on continued professional development we provide a series of services to customers among them: - Interior and Exterior Redecoration including:
- Painting and paper hanging
- Spray painting
- Special effects
